Sugeeth’s marital melodrama hints at the necessity of the sporadic lovemaking sessions in married life. And cautions against breaking the beauty of trust by venturing across that line that must not be crossed.

In fact director opt to go safe by without disturbing the traditional way of film making. As a result, it doesn't offer any freshness and not look convenient on narration. On verdict point it ended up as an average flick.

On the Whole, Onnum Mindathe is a family drama with loads of emotions mixed-up.

താലി കഴുത്തില്‍ വീണാല്‍ സര്‍വ്വംസഹയും ആജീവനാന്ത വിധേയത്വവും സ്വഭാവമാക്കിയവാളാകണം ഭാര്യയെന്ന പാരമ്പര്യ ബോധത്തെ ഒന്നുംമിണ്ടാതെ നിലപാടാക്കുന്നു.

In the final count, 'Onnu mindathe' as its title reminds will not run on word of mouth, nor with its predictable threads.  Cliched....

Some films send you sprinting into silent mode once you are done watching them. I'm sure this must never have been the film maker's intention when they named their film 'Onnum Mindathe', but as a dejected audience walks out of the cinema halls, silence is precisely what prevails.

Onnum Mindaathe pertains to the category of movies that are male chauvinistic to the core, where an erring hero can get away with anything with a repentance and his wife is expected to wait for him to reform, with love and compassion in her big heart.

Clichéd, like any other Jayaram starrer...unimpressive on the main. Better watch ‘Alolam’ once again than go for this ‘inspired version

Onnum Mindathe might easily be watched off as a characteristic family tale with associated tensions and worries. However, what makes this earnestly-made film so likable is the simple, uncomplicated warmth about it. While switching from harmony to discord in a well-organised family, Sugeeth makes the transition appear less laborious even with all the traces of indispensable monotony that creeps into it

Sugeeth's latest movie Onnum Mindathe starring Jayaram and Meera Jasmine in the lead is a clean family story stuffed with a lot of cliche elements we have seen many times in big screen. Though the movie is enjoyable throughout the first half, the later half drags well to end up the movie as an average one.

 

Onnum Mindathe is below average. Started off well as a typical family entertainer, but ended up as a head scratcher that unappealingly revamps the old formula. My rating is a generous 2/5 for director Sugeeth’s Onnum Mindathe. Nothing much to talk about.

'Onnum Mindathe' is a kind of a movie that would have found a lot of takers before a decade or so. Old is gold, but we have gems aplenty to watch and rewatch, a new age movie with old trappings is not welcome in these times.
